Hybloc™ competitor DNA is the repetitive sequence fraction of genomic DNA. Hybloc™ competitor DNA may be effectively substituted for any other competitor DNA (i.e., COT-1 DNA®) for fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), Southern blots, microarray technology, or any other protocol requiring competition to prevent repetitive DNA from binding to the target. Hybridization with Hybloc™ competitor DNA shows a marked increase in signal intensity and a significant decrease in the amount of background noise associated with repetitive DNA. Hybloc™ competitor DNA is available for the following species: Mouse, Rat, Human, Bovine, Ovine, Porcine, Chicken, and Canine.

Description:

Ovine Hybloc DNA is the repetitive sequence fraction of genomic DNA obtained from male ovine tissues by extracting, shearing, denaturing, and reannealing DNA under conditions that enrich for repetitive sequences.

Ovine Hybloc DNA may be effectively substituted for any other competitor DNA (e.g., COT-1 DNA , Salmon Sperm DNA, Genomic DNA, etc.) to suppress cross-hybridization to ovine repetitive sequences for in situ hybridization, Southern blots, microarray technology, or any other protocol requiring competition to block repetitive DNA from binding to the target. Hybridization with Hybloc DNA shows a marked increase in signal intensity and a significant decrease in the amount of background noise associated with repetitive DNA.

How Supplied:

Ovine Hybloc DNAs are supplied in various quantities at 1mg/ml in 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.4), 1 mM EDTA.

Quality Control Assay:

Determination of concentration from the A260 and determination of the A260/A280 ratio (1.8 to 2.0); determination of molecular size: >80% of Ovine Hybloc DNA will run as a broad band between the 50 bp and 600 bp size range.
